Progressive Web App

Install SquadSpot as an app

Add SquadSpot to your home screen, Dock or Start menu. Open it like a native app — full screen, one tap away, no browser tab clutter.

Getting ready

Before you start

  1. 1 Go to https://app.squadspot.com.au in a supported browser for your device (see each section below).
  2. 2 On the login page, look for the Install SquadSpot card and tap Install. On iPhone and iPad the card points you here instead, because Safari has no install button.
  3. 3 Already signed in? Use the Install app button in the header of your dashboard.
  4. 4 No card or button? Your browser hasn’t offered an install yet. Follow the manual steps for your device below — they always work.
Apple note
iPhone, iPad and Mac Safari do not show a one-tap browser install button the same way Chrome does. Use Share → Add to Home Screen or Add to Dock instead.

Desktop

Mac & Windows

Mac — Safari

Recommended on macOS Sonoma and later

  1. 1 Go to https://app.squadspot.com.au in Safari.
  2. 2 In the menu bar, choose File → Add to Dock… (on some macOS versions this may appear under the Share menu).
  3. 3 Confirm the name (SquadSpot) and click Add.
  4. 4 Launch SquadSpot from the Dock.
Alternative (older Safari)
  1. 1 Click the Share button in the toolbar.
  2. 2 Choose Add to Dock or Add to Home Screen.
  3. 3 Confirm and open from the Dock.
Mac — Chrome or Edge
  1. 1 Go to https://app.squadspot.com.au in Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
  2. 2 If the Install SquadSpot card appears on the login page, click Install. Signed in already? Use Install app in the dashboard header.
  3. 3 Chrome: click the install icon in the address bar, or go to ⋮ → Cast, save, and share → Install SquadSpot…
  4. 4 Edge: click the App available (⊕) icon in the address bar, or ⋯ → Apps → Install this site as an app.
  5. 5 Confirm Install. SquadSpot opens in its own window and is available from Launchpad, Spotlight, or the app list.
Windows — Chrome or Edge
  1. 1 Go to https://app.squadspot.com.au in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
  2. 2 If the Install SquadSpot card appears on the login page, click Install. Signed in already? Use Install app in the dashboard header.
  3. 3 Chrome: click the install icon in the address bar, or ⋮ → Cast, save, and share → Install SquadSpot…
  4. 4 Edge: click App available in the address bar, or ⋯ → Apps → Install this site as an app.
  5. 5 Confirm Install. Find SquadSpot in the Start menu, taskbar, or as a desktop shortcut.

Firefox on Windows does not fully support installing PWAs the same way. Use Chrome or Edge for the best experience.

Tablet

iPad & Android

iPad (Safari)
  1. 1 Go to https://app.squadspot.com.au in Safari (Add to Home Screen is most reliable in Safari).
  2. 2 Tap the Share button (square with an arrow pointing up).
  3. 3 Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. 4 Confirm the name and tap Add.
  5. 5 Open SquadSpot from the home screen like any other app.
  • In landscape or Stage Manager, Safari’s Share button is usually in the toolbar.
  • If you don’t see Add to Home Screen, tap Edit Actions… / More and enable it.
Android tablet (Chrome)
  1. 1 Go to https://app.squadspot.com.au in Chrome.
  2. 2 If the Install SquadSpot card appears on the login page, tap Install.
  3. 3 Or tap ⋮ → Install app / Add to Home screen.
  4. 4 Confirm, then launch SquadSpot from the home screen or app drawer.

Phone

iPhone & Android

iPhone (Safari)
  1. 1 Go to https://app.squadspot.com.au in Safari.
  2. 2 Tap Share (square with arrow up).
  3. 3 Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. 4 Tap Add.
  5. 5 Open SquadSpot from the home screen.
Use Safari. Installing from Chrome or Firefox on iOS usually only creates a shortcut that still opens in that browser.

  2. 2 If the Install SquadSpot card appears on the login page, tap Install.
  3. 3 Or tap ⋮ → Install app / Add to Home screen.
  4. 4 Confirm installation, then open SquadSpot from the home screen or app drawer.

Samsung Internet and other Chromium-based browsers often support install as well — look for Add page to / Install in the menu.

Help

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure you’re on a secure (HTTPS) connection.
  • Use a supported browser for your device.
  • Reload the page once after your first visit — Chrome only offers to install after the app has fully loaded in the background.
  • Visit SquadSpot at least once and wait a moment — browsers often require engagement before showing install.
  • Already installed? Neither the card nor the header button will show again while the app is installed.
  • You can always install manually using the steps for your device above — the browser prompt is just a shortcut.
  • Use Safari, not an in-app browser or third-party browser.
  • Open the Share sheet and scroll — the option can be below the fold.
  • Check Share → Edit Actions and enable Add to Home Screen.
  • Update macOS / Safari.
  • Confirm you’re in Safari with SquadSpot loaded (avoid private windows if your OS restricts PWAs there).
  • Use Chrome or Edge install as a fallback.
  • You may have bookmarked the site instead of installing. Repeat install using the steps for your device.
  • On iOS, installing outside Safari often won’t create a true standalone app.
  • Uninstall and reinstall after a refresh.
  • Hard-refresh the site in the browser once before installing again.
  • SquadSpot works with live data, so it needs a connection — there is no offline copy of your club’s records.
  • Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data. The screen reloads on its own once you’re back online.
  • Tap Try again if you’re connected but the screen is still showing.
